Jesse Thomas Blier
Bass | Vocals
I am a bassist and songwriter who occasionally contributes backing vocals and incorporates keys into my recording work. I bring a lifelong passion for groove, melody, and musical exploration into everything I play. I’ve been playing bass since the age of 12, and my diverse musical tastes have shaped a style that’s comfortable across many genres.
My journey began with hands-on home recording—experimenting with cassette decks, mixers, drum machines, and microphones—which gave me an early foundation in sound and production. In high school, I studied music theory and played with other musicians, deepening both my skills and love for collaboration.
I later studied Jazz and Contemporary music at the University of Maine at Augusta, where I performed in ensembles, continued my theory studies, worked one-on-one with inspiring bass instructors, and gained valuable studio experience that still informs my home recording work today.
My playing influences span a wide range of bassists, including Pino Palladino, Jaco Pastorius, Rocco Prestia, Tony Levin, Victor Wooten, Mick Karn, John Paul Jones, Phil Lesh, Tony Franklin, Trevor Roy Dunn, Chris Squire, Bootsy Collins, Norwood Fisher, Stanley Clarke, Mike Gordon, Flea, among many others.
